Killed Rabies Virus
Vanguard Rabies 3 Year (formerly Defensor 3) is a high-quality, inactivated rabies vaccine designed to provide long-lasting protection against rabies for healthy dogs, cats, cattle, and sheep. The vaccine is prepared from a cell-culture-grown, chemically inactivated rabies virus, formulated with a highly purified adjuvant for enhanced immune response. The seed virus used in the formulation is a highly immunogenic, fixed strain that originated from Louis Pasteur's original rabies isolate from 1882, ensuring robust immunity.
This rabies vaccine is effective for the vaccination of healthy animals 12 weeks of age or older, including dogs, cats, ferrets, cattle, and sheep. It provides a proven duration of immunity, with at least 3 years of protection in dogs and cats after a single dose, and at least 1 year of immunity in ferrets, cattle, and sheep. For continued protection, annual revaccination is recommended for ferrets, cattle, and sheep, while dogs and cats should be revaccinated every 3 years.
